Merry Christmas, everyone! We hope that your holiday has been restful and enjoyable, spent how you best see fit!
Our holiday has been spent like how we spend many other days. Fixing appliances, restocking our firewood from the back 40, moving snow and other homestead tasks. But, we’ve definitely tried to keep it low key and full of good rest and relaxation.
We got some beautiful days to enjoy! While it’s cold and low in daylight these days, the time outdoors we do have has been absolutely gorgeous! We often joke that we live in a real world snow globe some days and days like these definitely give that joke some merit!
We’ve also been cooking up a storm, of course!
Our main dish for Christmas Eve is always Dungeness crab, harkening back to a tradition started by my forefathers back in Sweden. It’s a well honored tradition that’s been going on in my family for over a hundred years, possibly much longer than that!
For Christmas dinner, we picked up some premium ribeye steaks from our local butcher. These things are ridiculous at nearly 3 inches in depth! We’re excited to cook these up French style (aka reverse sear) and I’m thinking about throwing down a nice bearnaise sauce to dress it up.
Anyway, we’re going to keep this one short, but we hope that you all are having an excellent holiday and that your time is filled with things you truly enjoy!
