The Coolest Seed Delivery Method We’ve Seen In Awhile!

We’ve seen many thousands of seeds in our lifetimes. We thought we’d seen every possible seed containment method possible, like packets, small envelopes, plastic bags and even wax paper origami.

It’s not all that often we encounter a new seed containment method, but alas, we’ve now seen yet another one! We’re really digging these little plastic tubes and it’s definitely among the more original methods we’ve seen for delivering seeds. It really seems to help pelletized seed stay, well, pelletized.

One of the things we’ve been venturing into in the last few years is “higher end” seed. While there isn’t always a correlation between seed cost and plant quality, there is definitely a correlation between seed rarity and seed cost. I suppose when you’re paying something like 75 cents per seed, a little plastic tube definitely helps to remind you that you’ve arrived at “premium class” when it comes to seeds.

It does take a fair bit of confidence in your growing process to commit to seeds that push over 75 cents each. We still figure we’re “saving money” since we’re growing it ourselves. It’s been a very long time since we’ve experienced the “nervousness” of the new gardener, but we’re getting those jitters as we’ve experimented with higher priced seed!

For the average grower, we definitely don’t recommend getting into this “premium” stuff. There’s plenty of fantastic genetics that can be found at reasonable prices. But, as advanced growers, we sometimes want to do things we’ve simply never done before. And that often means acquiring exceptionally obscure genetics, which can often come at a price.

One thing we’re trying to figure out is how to identify these premium seeds in our growing process. We often cull plants, preferring to select for the best genetics that we see. That’s fine when you’re paying pennies for a seed, not so cool when you’re tossing away a couple bucks or more. Something like a green dollar sign on our plant tags might do. LOL.

We’re curious if any of you fellow advanced growers have a good process around this topic? Especially once you’ve pushed above your typical comfort level when it comes to seed cost!
