The countdown has begun! We’re less than 48 hours to having plants in the ground! That means one thing, it’s our 2025 plant family portrait time!
We’ve been doing this for years now, trying to capture all of the plants we grew from seed each season. It used to be that we could fit all our plants into a single photo! It’s crazy to think it now takes us three photos to get all of them! (Even then, we don’t have a wide enough lens to get *every* plant!)
We’ll admit, part of this is showing off a little bit. But, it’s really about trying to capture where we are at as gardeners each year. We can look back at these photos from over the years and observe specific changes and when we made them. It’s a reminder of how we’re growing as gardeners, what we’ve accomplished and what we’re learning.
We haven’t done a final plant count, but we’ve been at over a thousand plants for at least three years now. It’s still that this year. If I had to throw a dart, we’re bringing about 1,200 plants or plant clusters into maturity this year. I think we’re slightly less than we were at last season, for reasons we’ll hopefully address at some point.
This weekend is going to be a big one! We’re at the official kick off of our “real” gardening for the season and by the end of this weekend, we’ll have plants in the ground! We have so much physical labor in front of us right now, I don’t really want to think much about it. But, it’s time to go heads down and plow forward.
So, for the next few weeks, we’ll be focusing on talking about our garden implementation and the various aspects of those efforts. If you’re curious about how we go about putting in a fairly large, production focused garden, the coming weeks are when it’s all going to go down!
We’re two weeks to our expected last frost. We have prep work for tomorrow, no more time for talk. It’s time to let ‘er rip!
