Soliciting Feedback: Time Management, YouTube, Facebook & Our Efforts

Greetings followers! I wanted to solicit your input with regard to our future efforts. As many of you know, we try to cater to what you want to see and we think it’s important to establish feedback loops in our social efforts.

As many of you know, we also operate a YouTube channel. We’ve seen a lot of success there, more than we see here on Facebook, and we get constant requests to do more videos. However, I’ve found that I really struggle with time availability in the summer months. We operate at “max capacity” and there’s just no more time for me to to give.

I’ve been weighing the option to maybe reduce our posting frequency, or maybe quality of our daily posts, here on Facebook. The goal would be to get more time to make videos. However, we sort of see Facebook as our “OG” crowd. I am not driven by things like “fame” or “potential followers,” rather the passion for the growing and preservation craft. So, the “level of success” is not the primary driver for my efforts.

Most people don’t appreciate the effort that goes into video production. It’s not uncommon that one video can take 30-40 hours to produce. The nature of video content is “go big or go home,” there’s just no middle or low ground (i.e. lazy effort) in that space.

If you haven’t seen our videos, they tend to be “deep dives” that are more similar to our website content. Whereas our daily posts here aim to be comprehensive, but don’t necessarily touch on every aspect of a given topic. So, this decision is a tradeoff in frequency, quality and breadth of information.

We’re small content creators here, we don’t have a budget to throw at help. It’s really “up to me” to determine how and with what efforts I allocate my time. But, I also want to know what you think!
So, I’d really value your input on this matter! I’ve been really struggling with the decision and could use more points of view.
