Attention Fairbanks! We are doing another early season presentation for you, this one will be on growing a garden from seed indoors in our extreme northern climate!
We’re working with the Interior Alaska Food Network (IAFN) to bring an action packed afternoon, focused on the idea of achieving food security within the Interior of Alaska! It’s also a seed exchange, so if you’re looking to spread your efforts in northern genetics, this is definitely an event for you!
Gardens and home food production are one of the many elements involved with food security for an area. We operate on the “education spectrum” of that problem, aiding others to build know-how when it comes to producing their own food.
The event will run from 1PM to 4PM, allowing a focus on various topics surrounding early food production in the interior! The presenters will cover the gamut of options to achieve greater self-sufficiency. The topics of discussion will range from the Ester Seed Library, winter sowing techniques, soil blocking techniques and we will round out the discussion with a presentation on how we grow from seed indoors!
1:15 PM – 1:45 PM: Seed Talk with Kristin Hanley (Ester’s Seed Library)
2:00 PM – 2:30 PM: Winter Sowing Talk with Erin Brown
2:45 PM – 3:15 PM: Seed Blocking Talk with Jenn Miller
3:30 PM – 4:00 PM: Seed Starting with Frosty Garden
Time & Location:
Saturday 3/7/2026, 1PM to 4PM

Best parking option will be the main parking lot as the Peger lot is not plowed. We’ll post a map of the park in the comments to help you navigate!
We’ll be around for the entire event and we’d love to connect with locals! There will be brief breaks in the discussions to mingle, so feel free to say hello! It’s always good to visit in person, we’re big fans of translating our efforts into the real world!
Thanks & we hope to see you there!
