Ten Weeks To Last Frost: Tomatoes, Mint, Green Onions & More

Things are really heating up over here! Now that we’re 10 weeks to our last frost, we’ve got a bunch more seeds in the soil and our germination space is starting to look a bit more cramped.

This weekend’s a big one for us. Our tomatoes are now in the soil! We’ll have more to say on the sowing time for tomatoes very soon as there’s a fair bit of nuance to them. They grow quite tall, so early tomato sows aren’t optimal for all growers.

But, we’re also throwing down mint, green onions and artichoke. The real pressure comes from our flowers, though. We sow quite a few around this time, aiming to get quality blooms through our short summer season. In total, a couple hundred more seeds!

We also reviewed our first sows of the season from a couple weeks ago. Our seedlings aren’t quite mature enough to transplant into their more permanent homes just yet. But, we’re expecting next weekend will likely be our first signficant transplanting weekend for the season!

We’re not too far out from the point where we’ll have multiple things in flight, adding to the difficulty of growing indoors. Our labor demands definitely ramp up quickly, so we’re enjoying one of our last few “chill” weekends for quite awhile.

Although it’s not yet spring outside, inside it’s looking mighty fine! Things are popping, with more to come. It’s good to have some greenery around, continually reminding of that sweet, sweet summer is on its way!
