Welcome To Our 2026 Season! Who We Are & What We Do!

It’s time for a bit of who we are and what we do! So, allow us to introduce ourselves! We are Jeff & Kayde and Frosty Garden has been our side project for over a decade now.

As for what we do here? We are life long gardeners that grow food and flowers in a climate that is often colder than Mars. We post about family-scale food production at 65 degrees north, once a day, throughout our growing season. Our hope is that you will like what we talk about and it will help to make you a better grower.

We are experienced cold climate growers, understanding what it takes to make the garden a tool that facilities real home-scale food production. You’ll see us raising a garden entirely from seed, bring those gardens to fruition and most importantly, preserve that garden to serve our annual food needs. Our gardens currently provide about 15-20% of our annual food needs.

Our goal is not to be wholly self-sufficient, nor authoritative. Rather, it’s to demonstrate what self-sufficiency can look like in an extreme northern climate. We aim to supplement you with our know-how and decades of cold climate growing experiences.

We try to craft one-minute long posts with relevant, high quality and timely information you can use. No AI, no memes, minimal fluff. Just real people, exchanging real information. We’re not perfect, and often demonstrate our failures, to clearly illustrate we’re all on the path of learning.

We spend a lot of time on the basics, trying to help the beginner far northern grower achieve a level of success. But we also try to meet the interests of those that have been producing for decades. We do our best to trial, experiment and advance the frontier of extreme northern agriculture. Whether you’re our northern neighbor or battling an entirely different extreme climate, we hope our growing discussions in the context of a niche climate helps you.

Our gardens lie somewhere between the average hobby garden and a “real” farmer. Our garden’s designs attempt to illustrate the many different ways one can grow at subarctic latitudes, ranging from traditional in-ground techniques to highly engineered, fully automated designs. We attempt to grow hundreds of different species, a product of our deep interest in plant biology and quest to help shape the beginnings of far northern agriculture.

We don’t ask much of you through the season. But, today, we humbly ask for your regular participation in our efforts as it is vital to what we do. Those likes, comments and shares are critical to ensuring you and others see our content. As small creators, we face a steep, uphill battle against a sea of quality content. Your participation helps us stand out and truly encourages us to keep trying!

Lastly, in case you don’t yet know, we also offer an extensive resource at FrostyGarden.com. Here, you’ll find even deeper dives on almost a hundred cold climate gardening topics and years worth of our daily posts. After a decade+ of refining it, honestly, sometimes I’m even surprised by what we’ve created!

Never did we imagine that our “little subarctic gardens” would garner so much interest, 15,000 followers and millions of views! We honestly can’t thank you all enough for following along and offering us your support. This is our eleventh season and we are looking forward to what our 2026 garden will bring! Now, let’s get to it!

Thank you for your informative content. While I first ran into you on Facebook, I am rarely on there or instagram, so there isn’t much I can do to support your efforts in that way. I will try to send a little money your way when I have it as I find your content very valuable.
